We've become the company we are today through the incredible work of our invaluable team members. Below are a few of the rockstars responsible for that incredible work.
Richard Counihan Chief Executive Officer
Richard previously founded Enprecis, the leader in on-line vehicle quality measurement which operates in 12 countries and counts over 14 brands as customers. Before Enprecis, Richard was an executive at Who's Calling, the market leader in call tracking with over 12,000 dealers as customers. He was part of the deal team that sold the company to private equity in 2006.

Prior to Who’s Calling, Richard was an executive at Percepta, a joint-venture between Ford and Teletech to manage CRM activities across the globe. Richard graduated from University College London, is married with three children and lives in Mercer Island, Washington.
Tim Clay Chief Revenue Officer
Tim Clay has more than twenty years experience in the automotive retail space and is a graduate of NADA Dealer Candidate Academy. Previously, he was COO and Co-Founder of ClickMotive, an automotive technology company. He was part of both a successful automotive and medical company exit.
Kevin Cawley Chief Technology Officer
Kevin Cawley is the key factor in establishing CFS as an industry leader in technical efficiency and product usability. Originally from the Northeast, Kevin began his career as a Mechanical Engineer in Austin, TX. He soon discovered that his true passion was in software development and entrepreneurship.
After moving to Boulder, CO and receiving his masters in Computer Science, Kevin went on to develop cutting edge technologies and applications for a number of successful startups from inception to sustainability and exit. In his free time, Kevin enjoys being active with his 4 kids. He’s also likely to be found cycling while wearing a big smile and a colorful spandex suit on one of the many local mountain roads.
Edward Barry Chief Financial Officer & Head of Risk
Ed comes to CFS with nearly 20 years of financial expertise. His background in management, accounting, audit, IT, financial modelling, and corporate analytics in the auto industry makes his skillset perfectly optimized for his position as CFO.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, Ed escaped the humid summers and bitter winters by migrating to sunny Arizona for his BS and MBA degrees at ASU. Today he lives in Phoenix with his wife. On Sundays, Ed stays loyal to his roots by supporting the New England Patriots. He and his wife also travel to new cities frequently where they enjoy museums and local architecture.
John Gersitz Senior Vice President of Loan Servicing
John joined CFS with more than 20 years of experience in the automotive finance and technology sectors. During his career, John has built loan servicing and operation groups for multiple non-prime automotive finance companies with operations ranging in size from 50 million to over 1 billion in loans. Always focused on technology and efficiency, John played an integral role in acquiring a GPS technology company that was focused on providing auto lenders key information about location and use of their collateral.
Using his knowledge of both Loan Servicing and GPS technology, John led the Lender Services division for the nation's largest automotive GPS company and focused on bringing the benefits of a connected car to both the lender as well as the consumer. John graduated from Northern Arizona University and is married with two children. Most of John’s free time is spent with his family in the mountains of Arizona enjoying the outdoors.
Andrea Gillespie Director of Sales & Account Management
Andrea Gillespie has over 15 years of experience in the automotive retail space with SaaS products. She has led successful teams in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment delivering SaaS and telecommunications solutions. Originally from the Seattle area, Andrea began her career in the automotive space with Who’s Calling, the market leader in call tracking with over 12,000 dealers as customers. She then joined Contact At Once, a Liveperson Company to manage and lead multiple sales teams over the past 9 years to successfully achieve and contribute to a multi-million dollar Automotive SaaS Company. Her background also includes coaching and training automotive sales teams, constructing and launching a successful new hire training program, and distribution of OEM programs (Chrysler, Subaru, Kia, GM) to the sales team. Andrea attended CWU in Washington state, and now lives in Phoenix with her family and three children. She spends most of her free time attending soccer games, and being an Uber driver to her children. She is an avid runner and can be found most days training for marathons in order to raise money for Cancer.
Jason Fransua Senior Director of Compliance
Jason is a strategic-minded compliance professional with eleven years of experience in consumer banking and lending. He spent over five years working with big financial institutions such as Wells Fargo and US Bank. He has 50+ certificates in Regulatory Compliance, including BSA/AML Compliance, Fraud Prevention, Deposit and Lending Compliance.
For more than eight years, Jason has managed high-performance teams. His background and experience in operations management made him the perfect fit to lead and implement payment processing channels for CFS. He brings a broad range of knowledge and creative problem-solving skills to help CFS achieve its goals. In his free time, Jason likes to go to the gym, travel, and spend time with his husband and their rambunctious dog, Kovu.
Tamar Gonzales Director of Loan Servicing
Tamar joined CFS with more than 10 years of experience in the automotive finance industry. She has run numerous loan servicing centers and managed relationships with vendors across the auto industry. She is always looking for ways to become more efficient and to find new innovative strategies to streamline processes.
She is particularly interested in the ways that technology can help with this and has successfully implemented many time-saving systems in large organizations. Tamar graduated from the University of Phoenix and is married with three children. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family.
Jiray Du Senior Data Scientist
Jiray sets the vision for how CFS most effectively utilizes its data. He has spent his career driving analytics strategies and converting meaningful insights from data into action.
Prior to joining CFS, he led teams in developing and implementing statistical models in the subprime automotive lending space. Leveraging the use of machine learning and modern open source tools, he has a proven track record for finding profitable segments where traditional credit scores normally fail to accurately predict consumer risk.
Jiray has his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Arizona State University. In this free time, he enjoys playing guitar and training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Taniya Bose Director of Risk Analytics
Taniya has over 10 years of analytics consulting experience in the banking and financial services industry. Prior to CFS, Taniya worked at Accenture Management Consulting, where she drove legacy European banks to adopt analytics-driven strategies. Taniya started her career at HSBC working with the Product, Pricing, Asset Liability Management, Network and Marketing teams.
Taniya is an innovative transformation leader and has led projects with multi-million-dollar impacts. Her functional competencies in predictive modelling, machine learning and design of experiments, and domain expertise in consumer and product analytics make her a good fit to lead the credit risk department at CFS.
Taniya has her Masters in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University and Bachelors in Engineering from India.
She is originally from India, and moved to Denver with her husband in 2015. She loves to explore the world through travel and has been to 8 countries and over 20 states in the USA.
